1. About Us & Services Offered
Suffolk Music Teachers (“we”, “our”, “us”) operates a music teaching platform that connects students with independent, self-employed music teachers.
We provide administrative, scheduling, and platform services, including but not limited to:
1.1 Individual music lessons

1.2 Group lessons

1.3 Classes and workshops

1.4 Masterclasses

1.5 Performance and enrichment opportunities
We do not employ teachers. All teachers listed on the platform operate as independent professionals.
2. Payments & Fees
2.1 Tuition Fees

Tuition fees are set by individual teachers, not by Suffolk Music Teachers.

Tuition fees are paid directly by the student (or parent/guardian) to the teacher, either via Stripe or bank transfer, as selected by the teacher.
2.2 Platform / Administration Fees

A separate platform or administration fee may be charged by Suffolk Music Teachers for use of the platform, scheduling, and administrative services.

This fee is paid directly to Suffolk Music Teachers and is distinct from tuition fees (via Stripe Split Payments).
2.3 Payment Processing

Payments are facilitated through the TutorCruncher platform.

Suffolk Music Teachers does not receive or handle teacher tuition fees.
2.4 Invoicing

Invoices are generated automatically through TutorCruncher based on completed lessons.

Teachers are responsible for marking lessons as complete in the system.
2.5 Late or Failed Payments
-
Late or failed payments for tuition fees are a matter between the student and the teacher.

Late payment of platform/admin fees may result in temporary suspension of platform access.
3. Scheduling of Lessons & Events
3.1 All lessons, classes, and events are scheduled via the TutorCruncher calendar.

3.2 The TutorCruncher calendar is the authoritative record of all bookings.

3.3 It is the responsibility of both students and teachers to ensure scheduling details are accurate.

3.4 Any changes must be made directly in TutorCruncher.

3.5 In the event of a dispute, the TutorCruncher record shall be considered final.
4. Cancellation & Rescheduling
4.1 Student Cancellations

Cancellation notice periods are set by individual teachers and displayed in TutorCruncher.

Failure to give the required notice may result in the lesson being chargeable.
4.2 Rescheduling

Rescheduling is at the teacher’s discretion, subject to availability.
4.3 Teacher Cancellations

If a teacher cancels a lesson, no tuition fee will be payable for that lesson.
4.4 Platform Fees

Platform/admin fees are generally non-refundable, unless otherwise stated.
5. Eligibility
5.1 There are no strict age restrictions.

5.2 Acceptance of a student is subject to the teacher’s professional judgement regarding suitability.
6. Instruments
6.1 Instrument hire may be available subject to availability and separate agreement.

6.2 Instruments must be returned in good condition, allowing for normal wear and tear.

6.3 The borrower is liable for damage caused by negligence or misuse.
7. Lesson Materials & Exams
7.1 Students are responsible for purchasing their own lesson materials.

7.2 Exam entry fees and related costs will be communicated in advance and charged to the bill payer with consent.
8. Online Lessons
8.1 Online lessons may be offered by agreement between student and teacher.

8.2 Online lessons may substitute in-person lessons where appropriate.
9. Student Conduct & Expectations
9.1 Students are expected to attend lessons prepared and ready to learn.

9.2 Regular practice is encouraged.

9.3 Repeated inappropriate behaviour may result in lessons being discontinued.
10. Photographs & Video Recording
10.1 We may take photographs or videos during lessons, events, or performances.

10.2 These may be used for publicity, education, fundraising, and promotional purposes.

10.3 No identifying information will be published alongside images.

10.4 Consent is required for minors.

10.5 Consent may be withdrawn at any time, and materials will be removed where reasonably possible.
11. Withdrawal from Lessons
11.1 Students may withdraw at any time by notifying the teacher and Suffolk Music Teachers.

11.2 Required notice periods are set by individual teachers.

11.3 TutorCruncher access may be disabled once lessons conclude.

11.4 Any hired instruments must be returned promptly.
12. Relationship Between Parties
12.1 Teachers are self-employed independent contractors.

12.2 Nothing in these terms creates an employment, agency, partnership, or joint venture.

12.3 Teachers are solely responsible for their teaching services, tax obligations, and insurance.
13. Limitation of Liability
13.1 Suffolk Music Teachers’s liability is limited to the platform fees paid.

13.2 We are not responsible for the content or quality of lessons provided by teachers.

13.3 Teachers are responsible for maintaining appropriate insurance.
14. Force Majeure
14.1 We are not liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to natural disasters, pandemics, or technical failures.
15. Changes to These Terms
15.1 We may update these terms from time to time.

15.2 Changes will be communicated via email or the platform with reasonable notice.
16. Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
